Great Camera - New product issues Rating: 4 Amazing picture & video quality. The 3D images really pop! It should be noted that in video mode, when the camera moves, so does the viewing area inside the VR headset. Example: Camera is turned the opposite direction while recording, the viewer with headset playing the video will have to physically turn around to stay in view of the video. by awesomeaustin on 2018-05-09T17:00:00 Interesting idea Rating: 4 Video quality is good. Getting images on the new oculus go took some work, but doable. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] by ScDoc8 on 2018-06-05T17:00:00 Inexpensive and easy to use Rating: 4 For the price, you can't beat it. It's so fun to use and capture memories! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] by Benjs on 2019-03-17T17:00:00 Decent. Not half bad. Not half good, either. Rating: 3 Con: Photos dont have HDR, a feature that all cell phone cameras have had for the last few years. So photos tend to have blown out light areas or extremely dark areas in photos of mixed lighting conditions.
Pro: File sizes aren't as gigantic and large as other 180/360 photos/videos from other cameras.Much more manageable.
Cons: The wifi is dreadfully slow. It takes a very long time to transfer files. Streaming also seems to be handicapped at a very slow bitrate.
Pro: I like the simple aesthetic. I also like NOT having a viewfinder. Just shoot it and forget it. It makes me more carefree to take more pictures and not worry so much about getting perfect framing. If I need framing, I can fire up the app.
Con: I hope the 3D 180VR filetype that the Mirage Camera uses becomes more widely supported. Right now only lenovo and google products seem to support it. Other VR headsets are having problems viewing the photos/videos.
Pro: The steroscopic effect is excellent. You can really see a little bit of depth. No, you wont feel like you are actually there, but its better than 2D!
Con: Microphones could be better. Sound is a little tinny.
Pro: Super light and pocketably
Con: No case and the lenses can get smudged way too easy.
Pro: USB-C ALL THE THINGS!
Con: No accessories for sale. No wall charger, No extra batteries, No 180 compatible tripod. by Jesse K on 2018-05-09T17:00:00 Good image quality, but annoying firmware bugs. Rating: 2 I bought this camera to capture VR memories of our new baby. The quality of the VR pictures is great and the videos are pretty good (using the 4k setting) given the price of the camera.
Unfortunately, this product suffers from some annoying bugs and I honestly don't understand how it got released in this state. Let me list them:
- in VR videos, audio and video track are desynchronized by up to 0.6s. This is very noticeable! The offset is random and varies from video to video, so you cannot easily fix them in a batch but have to do it one by one (using ffmpeg, for instance)
- downloading videos to my Android phone (Pixel 2 XL) is very instable. It looks like the camera goes to sleep after 3 minutes, but the download of a camera full of video (8GB) takes more than half an hour. I was not able to transfer more than a couple of pictures wirelessly but had to use a cable or remove the sd card.
- the VR postprocessing tool (Google VR180 Creator) is not available for Windows (yet?) - only for Mac and Linux
- the camera is slow. Start up time is about 30 seconds and immediately after the shutter does not work for another 10 seconds or so. Shutter lag for taking pictures is more than 1s.
- the Android VR180 companion app (which is required to use the Mirage Camera properly as it doesn't have a display to switch settings, for instance) is instable, slow, and has only the bare minimum set of features: There are almost no settings and the video and image playback is very minimalistic as well. There's not even an option to view content in Google photos (which has a much better interface)
I hope Lenovo will address these issues in an update soon. Lenovo, if you fix only one thing, please fix the audio/video synchronization problem. But if you want to have customers returning to your brand I suggest you fix all of these issues. by schmidt3d on 2018-10-23T17:00:00 Rating: 5

| Killer Leaked Deal. Rating: 5 Despite the log-in issues Facebook is enforcing, this is still a deal. by Robert on 2020-09-01T17:00:00 Facebook account REQUIRED. BUYER BEWARE. Rating: 5 I don't want to slay this with less than 5 stars because it sounds awesome, but I have an issue. For whatever reasons, my Facebook account was terminated. I'm unable to start a new one, as they kill it within days. This is pretty scary considering this unit REQUIRES a Facebook account to work. What if you invest money in the unit, in a bunch games and then, because of something you post that Facebook doesn't agree with, your account is terminated. You then LOSE ACCESS TO ALL YOUR GAMES?! Unable to play. Wow. I almost feel like that would be grounds for a lawsuit, but I'm sure they have it written in their terms and conditions with some lawyer jargon that indemnifies them on this. by Eric on 2020-09-19T17:00:00 Better than the PSVR system by miles! Rating: 5 This is so much better than the PSVR and when connected to a nice PC it puts the PS5 and the PSVR to shame. Glad scalpers are not hurting the preorder for this unit. Mine is coming soon! by James on 2020-09-18T17:00:00 Great extended warranty option Rating: 5 Cancled my Oculus site order to get it from walmart.com instead Bc you can get a 4 yr accidental damage extended warranty for $45
